Novels, Short Stories and Poems that have Inspired Modern Songs by Andrew Barger -- Surname B

We know that literature can be life changing. Great literature not only stands the test of time, but it can inspire songs by modern bands. I have been compiling a list of novels, short stories, and poems that have inspired modern songs. It is a very long list so I will be breaking it up alphabetically. Last week I started (obviously) with authors whose last name begin with A.  This week we are moving on authors whose last names start with B. Think Ray Bradbury, Saul Bellow, Robert Brown, etc. Enjoy.

Jilted Pyromaniacs Unite! (Fahrenheit 451 Mix) by A. Midnight Grey

Jilted Pyromaniacs Unite!

(Fahrenheit 451 Mix)

At your “grey mansion” we mingled.

Now I use it for kindle.

This is where you “taught me how to kiss”?

Let the timbers hiss!

Hiding behind that oak tree,

Where we carved our initials, you and me;

Watching the mansion go up in flames.

Hey, you are the one to blame.

So fault me not,

You carousing sot.

This is where my love was learned?

Let it burn, baby, let it burn!

How did I light this glorious firesail?

Molotov cocktail?

Firebomb?

Puh-lease. Have a little more aplomb.

If you must know, I tossed a tonguelike flare,

And smiled as it spun in midair,

‘Til it landed on the roof,

And it became licking flames. There-is-your-proof.

I relish and giggle and smirk,

Doing a little twerk,

Hiding behind that oak tree,

Where we carved our initials, you and me.

There I watch my madness,

Turn to gladness.

And whisper, “Raize it to the ground!

“Burn, burn, burn it all around!”

Now not even rain,

Will bring me pain.

For behind that oak I will happily get older,

Laughing as I watch the mansion smolder.

The moral of this little poem is this: If your lover,

Dare found another,

Fahrenheit 451,

And have some fun!
